The 14th annual Chicago
Blues Festival was another success! This year's largest free
blues music festival was held on June 5th through June 8th, 1997.
Each year the festival seems to grow larger, both in attendance
and number of performers. Fans were rewarded this year with an
extra day (Thursday) of blues music. Once again, the webmasters
of the Worldblues Wed Site attended the festival, and we are
sharing our photos of the event with our fellow B.B. King and
blues fans. To view the larger JPEG images of our photos, click

Did I see
Elwood Blues at the "House of Blues" tent eating red
beans and rice (or was it dry white toast)? After all, we were in
Chicago ...
Here's a
shot of the Worldblues webmasters, Dennis O'Neill and Jim
Kerekes, paying our respects to Lucille!
Buddy Guy was definitely the
highlight of this year's festival!
Here's 6 photo's from Thursday night's show.

Warming
up for Buddy Guy was Roy Hytower, the "Root Doctor"
(left), and the "Sax Preacher" (right).

Erwin
Helfer's Boogie Woogie Ensemble (left) performed Friday afternoon
on the Front Porch stage, featuring vocals of Katherine Davis
(right).

Also
performing on the Front Porch stage on Friday was Howard
Armstrong (left) and his string band, including Sid Selvidge and
Jim Crosthwait - check out that bass! (right)

Known for
great acoustic blues performances, Saturday's Front Porch stage
featured Big Bo (left) on harp, accompanied by Little Whitt
(right) on guitar.

Two
legends of the blues and yearly Chicago Blues Fest performers,
David "Honeyboy" Edwards (left) and Homesick James
(seated at right).
