For
those of you who missed B.B.'s chat session on MSN,
as they say: "you don't know what you missed ..."
Thursday, May 1, 1997, 6:00-7:00 PM PST
B.B. was an excellent host, answering
many of his fan's questions. The folks at MSN's Rifff did a great
job in keeping the conversation moving, our hats off to them! The
following transcript has been edited to show the portion of our
chat with B.B. King. Attending the chat from Worldblues, were
webmasters Jim Kerekes and Dennis O'Neill:
Jim says:
Hi B.B. - Jim here, I work with Sid's son Bob on the worldblues web site. Have you had a chance to see it lately?
Host BBKing says:
I haven't seen it lately, but I'm aware of it, yes. Tell him I thank him so much. They give out a lot of information and I'm proud that we can do that through this new technology.
Dennis says:
B, Have you heard of Robben Ford? What do you think of him as a guitarist/blues player?
Host BBKing says:
I've heard of Robben Ford, but I'm not familiar. There are many great guitarists and entertainers around that I don't know. Some I hear of, I hear about how good they are, but I haven't heard their work. I hear that about Robben.
Jim says:
Hi B.B., Jim again. Do you have a new album in the works?
Host BBKing says:
Yes, the people that I mentioned that I've been recording with for the last month....they are the people that are going to be on the new album that I'm doing. That is my new album - or new CD, whatever you call them.
Dennis says:
Do you know of any recordings of Lowell Fulsom?
Host BBKing says:
Yes - I'm a big fan! In fact, the first tune that I recorded that was a hit was Lowell Fulsom's Three-O-Clock Blues.
Jim says:
B.B., how's Rufus Thomas doing these days?
Host BBKing says:
I spoke to him on his birthday - his birthday was last month...and I called him on his birthday and he sound good, said he was doin' well. His son, Marvelle is going to do a birthday bash for him some time in the very near future. I'm hoping that I can be around to attend it. But, to answer your question, Rufus Thomas is doing well. He was very surprised, very surprised to hear from me.
Dennis says:
MIDI guitar, I noticed in a picture of your trophy room you have a Roland GK2a pickup, do you experiment with midi guitar?
Host BBKing says:
Yes, I do.
Jim says:
B.B., when do you find time to relax?
Host BBKing says:
Well, I'm relaxed now, talkin' to you. To answer your question, I love watching TV, I'm a TV freak at home. I have an old truck that I enjoy driving - I like to drive around in the streets and up in the hills. I used to fly, used to enjoy that. I'm just a regular, how they say, country boy. You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy. Most people when they go some place, they go to France, Niagara Falls, South America...When I go on vacation...I want to go HOME !
