To commemorate the B.B. King Worldblues Web Site's first year on-line, we decided to pick our "Fans of the Year." Although this was not an official contest, we decided to reward some of our best fans with Concert Tickets and Back Stage passes to a B.B. King concert of their choice. The winners of our first ever "Fans of the Year" were Ron and PJ Berry of Iowa Park, Texas. The Berry's were selected based on their participation in the Worldblues Trivia Contests, Log Book Entries, Fan Scrapbook, and their huge support for our web site and B.B. King. They chose to attend B.B.'s recent show at the Bronco Bowl in Dallas, Texas on February 22, 1997. Please read the story of their meeting with B.B., just below the next paragraph.
All of us here at Worldblues would like to take this opportunity to thank our fans from around the world for their continued support. B.B. King is truly the "King of the Blues Worldwide." When we started this website just over a year ago, we had built up to 25 hits/day by May of 1996. We now have over 125 hits/day on average. Keep in touch with us as we are working to improve the site. We will be adding many new features and enhancing the existing ones throughout 1997.
A big THANK YOU from: Jim, Dennis, Bob and Robin!
Ron Says: "I
asked my younger brother, Steve, from Richardson, Texas, if he
wanted to go with us to the Bronco Bowl show. He went into orbit!
He's always wanted to see BB live. Anyway, we got there and had 4
tickets and 6 backstage passes waiting for us. The usher that met
us and showed us to our perfect seats (the best in the house),
asked us if we wanted to go on stage with BB one at a time. I sat
on the stage right beside BB for about 10 minutes. The usher told
me to stay there and she was going for PJ and my brother, but
they never got there until "The Thrill Is Gone" finale.
It was OUT OF THIS WORLD...!! Sorry about the rambling, but I get
so keyed up every time I think about being on the same stage with
BB, I just can't help it! Thanks again for everything to you all.
You have made our YEAR!" - Ron Berry
PJ Says: "BB
really knocked the socks off everyone at the Bronco Bowl in
Dallas on Feb. 22nd !! They were either tapping their toes,
squirming in their seats, on their feet (like me),or dancing in
the aisles!! He really knows how to electrify the audience and to
keep them captivated. Poor ole BB had a cold that night and
apologized for being sick, but you would have never known it! Our
son, Ronny had gone with us also, but had to leave early after
receiving an emergency call that his girlfriend was sick. When we
got back-stage, BB was as sweet and courteous as usual. He made
sure we all got an autographed picture and he even autographed
one to take back to our son. Then we had a quick picture taken
(shown above). So, much to his surprise, as we were leaving, I
said 'BB, I've been waiting all night to do this.' He looked at
me kind of funny and I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the
cheek! I really think I embarrassed BB King!! At least, I can say
we had our moment with him and loved every bit of it. Without the
support and faith of our good friends at Worldblues.com, I doubt
if we could have afforded to go and get such great seats!! So, to
Jim Kerekes, Dennis O'Neill, as well as Bob and Robin
Seidenberg....THANKS!! and we luv ya'll, man!!" - PJ Berry
